I think this extract is a little too negative about truth. As we live in a web of lies, it actually makes the truth more rare, and more valuable. We need to seek the truth more than ever, whatever that may be. It starts with small truths such as "It's true that it's good to make an effort to do things properly" and continues on that it's true that it's good to have some purpose that is above and beyond just ourselves. The more of a mess we are in, then the more we search for whatever gives us some hope, some life, some purpose, and that is truth. It sets us free from the confusion, the corruption, the chaos and carnage. If we ever lose TRUTH, we have lost hope. Hope dies last.
